2023-24 South Dakota Changes, Clarifications & Reminders

Eliminate the basket toss language for Sideline Cheer. Coaches must be AACCA-Certified to perform basket tosses, will need to use proper matting and activity cannon cause a delay in the game/contest.
Change the number of sideline cheerleaders in basketball to a maximum of eight, plus the mascot. The mascot will no longer be counted in the eight cheerleaders for the squad limits.
Wrestling cheerleaders at the State Tournament will only be allowed on the floor during the championship match in which their team is involved.

The South Dakota High School Activities Association will serve member schools by providing leadership in the development, supervision, and conduct of interscholastic activities which enrich the educational experiences of high school students. The SDHSAA is committed to the ideals that will provide equitable participation opportunities and positive recognition to students, while working cooperatively with all schools to enhance the achievement of desired educational goals.
