Heat Index Lookup

The Heat index is calculated by using the actual temperature and relative humidity level to determine the human-perceived equivalent temperature (how hot it feels). Heat index is broken down into the following four levels:

  • NORMAL: Under 95
  • MODERATE: 95 – 99
  • HIGH: 100 – 104
  • EXTREME: Above 104

Use the chart below to find the level of risk based upon the expected temperature and relative humidity of when the activity will take place.

Based on the result from the above chart, the following practice recommendations should be implemented to help ensure the safety of all participants.
