Competition Overview


Rapid City Stevens High School will be the site for the State Competitive Cheer and Dance Championships on October 20-21, 2017.  Competition will begin at 5:00 p.m. (MT) on Friday, October 20 for Class A cheer and dance performances. Class AA competition will begin at 11:00 a.m. (MT) on Saturday, October 21.

The cheer competition consists of stunting/tumbling. Dance competition will have four categories: hip hop, jazz, kick, and pom. Schools will be allowed to compete in a maximum of three (3) categories.

To qualify for the State Competition, each school must compete in a minimum of two (2) competitions during the regular season. Awards will be given following the competition on each day. The Class A cheer and dance awards presentation will be at approximately 8:30 p.m. (MT) on Friday, with Class AA awards scheduled for approximately 4:30 p.m. (MT) on Saturday.

Adult tickets are $12.00 each, with student tickets at $7.00 each.

  1:00 - 3:15 p.m. Practice Session
  2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Judges Meeting
  3:30 p.m. Coach/Advisory Meeting (All head coaches must attend)
  5:00 p.m. Competition Begins
  8:30 p.m. (approx.) Awards Ceremony

Class AA - Saturday, October 21

  7:30 - 9:45 a.m. Practice Session
  10:00 a.m. Coach/Advisory Meeting (All head coaches must attend)
  11:00 a.m. Competition Begins
  4:30 p.m. (approx.) Awards Ceremony
